(re)descobertas encantadas: Ponte de Lima

Ponte de Lima tornou-se numa das minhas vilas favoritas. Daquelas onde gostaria de comprar uma casa à beira do rio e a adorar a paisagem verdejante minhota. Aii ar fresco!!

Ponte de Lima became one of my favourite towns. That kind of town in which you feel like buying a house by the river bank and just appreciate the beautiful green landscape from this region.



Depois de um sábado bastante cansativo nada como curar a ressaca das festas de S. Bartolomeu (mais tarde a serem relatadas) com um passeio por Ponte de Lima, e espreguiçar-se numa esplanada, comendo delicadamente um gelado no parque do Arnada, mesmo no outro lado da ponte. Como era domingo, muitas pessoas aproveitavam para nadar ou fazer canoagem. A ponte da vila é a sua imagem de marca. Felizmente limitada apenas a pedestres, esta travessia aguentou gente de tempos remotos. Apesar da ponte como se conhece ter a sua construção datada no século XIV, sabe-se que tinha sido construída, muito antes, no período romano. Aliás, a ponte era a passagem obrigatória na rota que os romanos construíram de Braga a Astorga, Espanha.

After a very tiring Saturday, nothing like curing the hangover from the festivities of St. Bartolomeu (later they will be described) with a nice stroll through the town, and lazying ourselves at an open air café, eating an ice-cream at the Arnada park, on the other side of the bridge. As it was Sunday, most of the people were swimming or canoeing at the river. The town's bridge is its mark. Fortunately it is now limited to pedestrians. This passage has endured so many people since the Roman Times. Although the construction as we see today is dated from the 14th century, it is known that it is much older than that. The Romans built it as part as a route that came from Braga and went further north to Astorga, in Spain.

Do outro lado da ponte temos um cantinho encantado. Para além do parque a belíssima igreja de Santo António. Mais um sítio bonito para tirar fotografias. :)

To the other side of the bridge we have another enchanted corner. Besides the mentiones park, there is the beautiful church of Saint Anthony. Another nice place to take some more pictures.
